TITLE                  BUS MONITOR

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or other qualification as deemed appropriate by the Director of Schools

Meets health and physical requirements

REPORTS TO

Director of Operations

JOB GOAL

To monitor and assist the driver on the school bus in a positive manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Manages students during transportation services, referring behavior problems according to established guidelines

  2. Communicates effectively with students and staff in a positive and professional manner

  3. Circulates as needed to assist students who need assistance on buses

  4. Follows instructions and completes tasks efficiently and at a sufficient pace

  5. Assists with the cleanliness of the bus

  6. Dismisses the bus in an orderly manner at the scheduled locations

  7. Encourages good bus behavior

  8. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs. with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to ten lbs.  Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

  1. Pushing and/or pulling

  6. Hearing

  3. Form Perception:  To make visual comparisons and discriminations and see slight differences in shapes and shadings of figures and widths and lengths of line

  4. Motor Coordination:  Ability to coordinate the eyes and hands or fingers rapidly and accurately in making precise movements with speed

  5. Color Discrimination:  Ability to perceive or recognize similarities or differences in color or in 

  6. Manual Dexterity:  Ability to move the hands and manipulate small objects with the fingers rapidly or accurately
